PROJECT NORTH

16,200LBS OF FRESH PRODUCE GROWN

$18,000 OF PROFIT GENERATED

56.83% REDUCTION IN PRODUCE PRICES

Project North’s mission is to provide fresh, locally grown produce to families in northern Canada. It is designed to empower Inuit individuals through the construction of geodesic greenhouse domes and the delivery of education. Currently, northern communities pay on average 4 times more for everyday vegetables and herbs and with temperatures averaging below negative 20, food is nearly impossible to grow outdoors. This leaves only inefficient and costly methods of transporting produce into this part of our country. 60% of parents have reported not being able to feed their children for an entire day as the cost of food is too high. In addition, 35.1% of Nunavut lives in severe food insecurity.

To solve this issue, we focus on the sustainability of our project by addressing these needs through the construction of a geodesic greenhouse dome. The dome is capable of utilizing solar energy to heat itself to optimal temperatures and features integrative vertical hydroponic towers to produce adorable and nutritious fresh produce.

Since establishing our model in several Arctic communities, ensuring trust, education and profitability, we expanded into Green Iglu and Arctic Acres to provide these geodesic greenhouse domes in every northern community in order to make healthful, locally grown produce economically available in northern Canada.
